RS485 encoder is a general term for encoders with RS485 free protocol output interface. The RS485 protocol is a standard that defines the electrical characteristics of drivers and receivers in balanced digital multipoint systems, as defined by the Telecommunications Industry Association and the Electronics Industry Alliance. The digital communication network using this standard can effectively transmit signals over long distances and in environments with high electronic noise. RS485 makes it possible to connect to local networks and configure multi branch communication links. The electrical interface with RS485 protocol can be connected to the PLC for intelligent control.
The key features of RS485 encoder include:
1. Differential transmission increases noise immunity and reduces noise radiation.
2. Long distance link, up to 4000 feet (approximately 1219 meters) in length.
3. Data rate up to 10Mbps (within 40 inches, approximately 12.2 meters).
4. The same bus can connect multiple drivers and receivers.
5. The wide common mode range allows for ground potential differences between the driver and receiver, and allows for a maximum common mode voltage of -7-12V.
Precautions for RS485 communication:
1. Communication speed and transmission distance are a contradiction. The higher the communication speed, the closer the transmission distance, but also the more stable, and vice versa.
2. When external electromagnetic interference is strong, the external setting line needs to be connected to a high level when setting the encoder, but it is recommended to forcibly connect to a low level after setting to prevent the encoder from suddenly returning to zero due to external interference.
3. When external electromagnetic interference is strong, it is best to use double shielded cables for RS485 wiring.
4. When multiple encoders are connected to the upper computer, it is recommended to distinguish the data returned by each encoder in terms of time during upper computer programming, as there is no parity check in the data returned by the encoder.
5. When there is a motor in the system, the encoder power supply needs to be isolated from other power sources.
6. The RS485 circuit is in differential form, with A+ and B- both carrying voltage. Long time grounding or high level connection can cause damage to the RS485 circuit.
There are various types of RS485 encoders, such as absolute and incremental, optoelectronic and magnetoelectric, high-precision and ordinary types.
Shenzhen Zhongling Technology Co., Ltd(www.zlingkj.com), as a long-term R&D enterprise focused on products, has recently launched the latest RS485 protocol absolute value encoder hub motor, bringing customers higher quality products and solutions, and promoting industry progress.
