Research status of intelligent mobile robots

With the rapid development of robot technology, the types of mobile robots have become increasingly diverse to meet the diverse needs of different operating scenarios. According to the mobile mechanism of the robot chassis, it can currently be divided into three categories: wheeled robots, crawler robots and legged robots.

Wheeled robots are known for their efficient and flexible mobility. They usually use two or more wheels as mobile devices, and control the rotation of the wheels to achieve basic movements such as forward, backward, and steering. Wheeled robots can move stably on flat ground and are not restricted by terrain and environment, so they have been widely used in many scenarios.

Crawler robots are characterized by their strong traction and off-road performance. They are equipped with a crawler chassis mechanism and can work stably in complex terrain and harsh environments. Crawler robots are usually used to perform tasks that require high traction and stability, such as explosive disposal, chemical detection and other dangerous tasks. They can be operated remotely or autonomously to reduce unnecessary casualties.

Legged robots simulate the walking way of living things and have higher terrain adaptability and flexibility.

They achieve movement and steering by controlling the robot’s leg movements, and can operate on uneven terrain and complex terrains.

Move freely in the environment. Legged robots have unique advantages in some special scenes, such as mountains and stairs. However, the disadvantages of legged robots may be the complexity of their structure and control, and the manufacturing and maintenance costs of legged robots may be higher compared to wheeled and tracked robots. In general, wheeled, crawler and legged robots each have their own characteristics and applicable scenarios. Together, they constitute a rich diversity in the field of mobile robots and provide effective solutions for different operating needs.

Legged robots

Compared with other types of mobile robots, wheeled mobile robots have a series of significant advantages. Its mechanical structure is simple and the number of parts is small, making the manufacturing and maintenance costs relatively low; it is easy to operate and users can easily get started without complicated training; it is flexible in movement and can respond quickly to instructions to achieve precise positioning and navigation; at the same time, High efficiency and able to perform work tasks continuously and stably. Based on these significant advantages, wheeled mobile robots have been widely used in many industries such as industry, agriculture, and national defense, providing strong support for the automation and intelligence processes in these fields.

For wheeled robots, most use toothless external rotor hub motors with built-in encoders because of their simple structure, low maintenance costs, high dynamic response, stable low speed and high torque, wide speed range, and good stability. Shenzhen Zhong Ling Technology Co., Ltd., established in 2013, has been focusing on the R&D, production and sales of toothless external rotor hub motors with built-in encoders, and is also equipped with suitable servo drives. Shenzhen Zhongling Technology Co., Ltd. has a wide range of wheel hub motors with an outer diameter of 3-20 inches, a load capacity of less than 500kg, and a voltage of 24-48V. It supports various customizations and provides tailor-made wheel hub motors and servo drives for various AMRs.
